Test Chemicals to EN ISO 374-1 and the Tested Hi5 Gloves
The EN ISO 374-1 standard names 18 test chemicals, each with a code letter. The table shows which Hi5 gloves are tested against which substance according to the data sheet. Substances with a tested glove have a page of their own.

How to read this overview
The table lists the 18 test chemicals of EN ISO 374-1 with their letter codes and CAS numbers. Where a Hi5 product is shown for a substance, the data sheet states it is tested against that substance; ten substances have a page of their own with the tested products. For substances without an entry there is no test result for the Hi5 gloves.
What type A, B and C mean
- Type A: breakthrough time of at least 30 minutes against at least six test chemicals. All six Hi5 chemical-resistant gloves are type A.
- Type B: at least 30 minutes against at least three test chemicals. The disposable gloves HI561 and HI561S are type B (KPT).
- Type C: at least 10 minutes against at least one test chemical.
If your substance is not listed
Many substances from everyday work are not among the 18 test chemicals. The data sheet says nothing about them, and you cannot conclude from a similar substance to yours. Use the chemical search, read in the safety data sheet of your substance which glove is recommended, and ask us through the advice request.
Frequently asked questions
How many test chemicals does EN ISO 374-1 name?
Eighteen, marked with the letters A to T. Which of them a glove has passed is shown as a letter sequence under the flask pictogram.
Does the test result apply to mixtures too?
No. Testing is done with pure substances under laboratory conditions. Temperature, concentration, mixtures and abrasion in the workplace change the breakthrough time.
Which Hi5 glove is tested against the most test chemicals?
According to the data sheets HI554 and HI555 with JKLMNOPST (nine substances), followed by HI553 and HI556 with AKLMNPST (eight substances). More: chemical-resistant gloves compared.
